Stuart Hall's tribute to friend Sean Edwards
Tuesday 29th October 2013
Aston Martin Racing’s Stuart Hall was good friends with Sean Edwards, the former ELMS / LM24 competitor and FIA GT3 Champion, who tragically lost his life in a testing accident in Australia two weeks ago. Sean’s funeral was due to be held today but it has been postponed until the 11th November.
At the 6 Hours of Fuji drivers’ briefing the teams, drivers and official held a one minute silence in tribute to Sean, who had competed at Le Mans and in the ELMS. However Stuart wanted to say a few words about his friend.
“This week has been quite difficult, for both for the racing community and on a personal level,” Stuart said in Japan. “I lost a good friend and I travelled to Fuji with the WEC with a heavy heart, but I am sure Sean would have approved that we continued to race. Sean was a true racer at heart and a tremendous talent; someone who was going up the motorsport ladder quicker than anyone I know. He had a huge future ahead of him and that has been tragically cut short. I think everyone is tremendously sad that we’ve lost another member of our motorsport family. Sean, I’ll be thinking of you forever.”
The funeral for Sean Edwards will take place at St Paul’s Church, 32a Wilton Place, London SW1X 8SH on Monday 11 November. The service will start at 12pm and will be followed by a celebration of Edwards’ life at the Berkeley Hotel in Wilton Place.
His family has requested that no flowers be sent and that donations to the Sean Edwards Foundation would be gratefully accepted.
